Choosing the right pickup truck for Colorado Springs is very important. The Ram, or the Dodge Ram is a pickup truck manufactured by an American automobile company named FCA US LLC AKA Chrysler Corporation. Pickup trucks are a necessity in Colorado Springs and the purchase rate of it is also very high. Since 2010, the Dodge Ram trucks have been sold under the name of the Ram trucks, the name with which it is popular nowadays in the market. In Colorado Springs, or let’s say throughout the United States, the main criteria, for a truck is its ability of the load it can carry, and based on that only RAM 1500 can be easily be called the light duty pickup trucks, while RAM 2500 can be called a middle duty pickup truck and RAM 3500 fall under the heavy duty pickup trucks. Now, other than the weight carrying difference, there are a few other differences too, and here we are going to list them as Ram 1500 vs 2500 vs 3500.

Ram 1500

It is the most popular light duty pickup truck since its release. It has strong powertrains and a nice cabin for the drive. It has also been twice named as the Truck of the Year, both in 2013 and 2014. Also, last year, an eco-friendly engine was introduced for it.

Ram 2500

This model not only looks elegant, but also works elegantly. It too falls in the middle weight pickup truck category, and has a well-designed cabin along with good engine and weight load capacity.

Ram 3500

It falls under the heavy load pickup trucks and is no doubt one of the best. It is better than both the previous versions of RAM. In the RAM lineup, it is named as the stoutest truck. It is actually available in the chassis cab version, which allows it to be used for various purposes like, as an ambulance, also for towing vehicles etc, and this is so, because it allows, the users to customize different equipment.

Other than the weight carrying capacity, Ram 1500, Ram 2500 and Ram 3500, can be compared based on three main categories, namely – the type of engines they use, the type of output they give and lastly their costs in the Colorado Springs market.

Ram Engine

Ram 1500, Ram 2500 and Ram 3500, each has different types of engines, and they vary, as they were designed in the first place for different purposes. The Ram 1500 has a 3.6 liter Penta-star V6 engine. The Ram 2500 on the other hand has a 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine. And the Ram 3500 has 6.4 liter HEMI V8 engine. These are the basic engines that they come equipped with, other than this, there are a line of other engines available for them as well.

Ram Power or Output

The Ram 1500, being the lightest among the lot produces about 305 horsepower, whereas the Ram 2500 produces somewhat 410 horsepower, and the highest horsepower production is by Ram 3500. If you are power hungry then you should go for this one.

There are other small differences, that makes each one of them stand apart on their own. The Ram 1500, is by far the most fuel efficient, among the three pickup trucks, for it gives a mileage of 21 miles for one gallon, while driving around the city, and 29 miles when driven on highways. The towing capacity of the three is pretty much different, with the class, the capacity goes on increasing as well. Like for Ram 1500, the towing capacity is 10,560 lbs, while for 2500 is 17,980 lbs and for 3500 it is 31,210 lbs. Also, Ram 1500 can carry loads up to 1,880 lbs, which is 3,990 lbs for Ram 2500, and it is too high, near about 7,390 for the Ram 3500.

So, choose wisely, in which Ram pickup truck you want to invest your money. All of them are equally good. However, you need to choose one according to your requirements.
